What is kept in your browser
Four things, all of them settings you chose, all stored in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. None of them is ever sent anywhere. They are readable only by the site that wrote them, and clearing your browsing data removes them.
| Key | Where | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
dm.text |
dmooney.engineer | Larger text, if you turn it on in the reading controls. |
dm.contrast |
dmooney.engineer | Higher contrast, if you turn it on. |
hum.feelings |
hum.dmooney.engineer | Any custom feelings you make in Hum, so they survive a reload. |
hum.reference-seen |
hum.dmooney.engineer | Whether you have seen the reference, so it stops opening itself. |
If you never touch the reading controls or make a custom feeling in Hum, none of these exist.
Who else handles the request
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To serve you a page Cloudflare has to receive your request, which means it processes your IP address and keeps its own operational logs for security and abuse prevention. That is true of every website you visit, and those logs are Cloudflare's rather than mine. Their privacy policy covers what they do with them.
I do not add anything on top. There is no analytics script, no tag manager, no embedded video, no social widgets, and no webfonts loaded from anyone else's server, so visiting a page here does not make a request to any third party.
If you email me
If you write to hello@dmooney.engineer, that email sits in my mailbox so I can reply to it, and it is handled by my email provider in the ordinary way. You are not added to a list, because there is no list.
The tools
Everything on the tools page runs entirely in your browser. What you type into the Article 50 checker, and the music you make in Hum, never leave the machine you are sitting at. Nothing is submitted, so there is nothing for me to see, store or lose.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, and object to how it is used. In practice the honest answer is that unless you have emailed me, I hold nothing at all, and if you have, I will delete the thread if you ask.
Ask at hello@dmooney.engineer. If you are not happy with how I handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Who is responsible
Dale Mooney is the data controller for this site. Contact: hello@dmooney.engineer.
Changes
If any of this stops being true, the page changes and the date at the top changes with it. If I ever add analytics, it will say so here before it says so anywhere else.
